WEDNESDAY Middle School Game Information 
 We have the exciting opportunity to perform for both middle school bands, band parents, and families at HCMS/HJHS on Wednesday at the HCMS vs. HJHS game.

Schedule
You are always welcome to store your uniform in the band room during the day if you need to.  Loading trucks during class.
5:15 pm  Trucks arrive at Milton Frank Stadium.  Truck crews arrive.
5:45 pm- Students arrive.  Jackets and Bibbers on.  Get instrument out quickly
6:10 pm - Head into stadium and perform stand tunes.
6:30 pm - Game starts - We are playing together in the first half.
~7:15 pm  -  Halftime performance to the home press box.  We are performing our FULL HALFTIME SHOW!!!

After halftime we will divide up and half the band will perform with each middle school band.  Load percussion truck after halftime.

8:15 pm - Game ends.  Students who are performing at Trader Joe's in the morning should make sure and put their instrument in their car and not on the truck

We know it's a late night on a Thursday.  All Band students, football players, dance team members, and cheerleaders deal with the same issue - students are expected to stay the whole game unless it has been approved by a director to leave early.  We are in this together.  While teachers are encouraged to take it easy on students the day following an away Thursday night game, there may be unavoidable situations where they must give an end of unit assessment or have something due.  However - almost always these are planned in advance and students can study for these prior to Thursday night to prepare!    Grab some coffee or caffeine and we look forward to seeing everyone in class at 8:30 am on Friday!!! ​

Trader Joe's Information
Students on the leadership team and seniors will meet at Trader Joe's at 8:00 am on Thursday, September 30th.  We are performing prior to the opening ceremony at approximately 8:55 am.  After performing, we will return to school. Students must provide their own transportation.  We are wearing polo shirts and khaki shorts (at this point weather looks like it will be in the 70s).  You are excused from school, but please let your A Day 1st block teacher know in advance.  

Fall Break Game

Thank you to those students who have committed to this Fall Break game on October 8th.  We have 37 students planning to attend.  Some students could not give us a definite answer: "I don't know" or "maybe" so they were not included in our count.  If you would like to be added, please contact Mrs. Connell at [email protected]  Please do not just show up as we only have limited seating on the bus.

NEW MARCHING UNIFORMS for 2022-23!!!!

We are excited to have new marching uniforms for the 2022-23 school year!  This process has been ongoing. Our uniform committee has been established with the goal of making recommendations to the directors and decision committee in both implementation and preference of design..

Uniform Committee Members:

If you would like to have a personalized scrapbook made for your student, now is the time to make your reservation!  The cost for this is $85 and includes an 8"x8" photo safe album, pages with protectors, and other materials. 
You will need to print 30-40 4x6 or 4x4 photos for this book and organize them by year/ age.   The photos don't have to all be from band!  If your student was in theater, sports, or any other activity, please include your favorites!   Feel free to include any from elementary/ middle school, family/ school trips or particularly fond/ embarrassing moments.  

Reservations need to be made no later than October 15 so the albums can be ordered.

12:00 pm Band Room Opens
12:30 - 1:30 pm  Fundamentals / Visual rehearsal (no equipment)
2:00 pm Depart via 2 charter buses (color guard should have hair and makeup done by the time they get off the bus in Gadsden)
4:00 pm  Arrive at Gadsden High School Stadium and unload.  Once we unload students will be able to eat dinner at the concessions and watch other bands - Bring $$$.
5:45 pm - Dress in uniform for performance (including color guard - hair and makeup should already be done!!) - there will be dressing rooms available.  Equipment ready to go by 6:20 pm
6:30 pm - Move to warm up
6:40 pm - Warm up block
7:20 pm - Performance

After we perform we will change back into regular clothes (except those on the field for awards) and watch other bands before the awards ceremony.  Immediately after the awards ceremony we will return to HHS.  Approximate return time 11 pm - 12:00pm

Spectator information
Competitions are open to the public and we always love to have a huge fan group in the stands!  

This serves as a major fundraiser for the Gadsden High School Band:
Parking is $5 per vehicle

General admission tickets for family and friends are $5 and can be purchased at the gate.  Children 3 and under are free.

Chaperones who travel with the band or trucks get in free.  We have limited spots available.

Concessions are available throughout the day.

 Although this is a competition, we are always super supportive of the other bands there.  We ask that anyone that attends to be a great audience for our band, but also the other students performing.  There are quite a few bands coming!

Food Information

Eat lunch before you arrive.

Bring Money for dinner at concessions.  Students will have over an hour when we arrive and possibly time after we perform to get food.    Students are also welcome to bring snacks and drinks with a screw top on the bus as long as they pick up after themselves.

2 Charter Buses.  We only have room for competition band, pit crew, and chaperones.

Each performance will be produced in a high-definition video.  You can visit the procat audio booth to purchase.  
Bands will be assigned a specific seating area and will sit together when we are not performing.

Parade Route 
See map.   The parade starts at HHS by the baseball fields and ends at the back gate by Marcheutz Dr.  The parade makes its way across Bob Wallace to the neighborhood across the street, going around Mayfair park and back to the school.

​Trader Joe's Opening
Trader Joe's has asked that we provide a small group of students for their grand opening tentatively on Thursday, September 30th (same day as Albertville Game).  We are planning on having leadership team and seniors perform.  It is scheduled to be in the morning, so you should plan to miss class.  More details coming....

GAME CHANGE!!!!

The game at Albertville that is now scheduled for Friday, October 1st has BEEN MOVED BACK to Thursday, October 2nd.  The game is still in Albertville.  I think this will be better for most people anyway since you can get an earlier start to your fall break after school finishes on Friday.  This change was due to a lack of referees available on Friday in the Albertville area.  Don't shoot the messenger!

We have a game during Fall Break on Friday, October 8th against Austin at Austin High School.  As with years past, we will be taking a volunteer pep band to this game and will not be performing halftime.  We ask that if you are in town to please attend the game!

We will be asking students about their commitment in the next couple of weeks so we can secure the correct number of school buses and plan for the game.

Dinner Information

 Please plan to eat dinner between 3:40 - 5:00 pm.  We are on a very tight schedule, so please don't be late getting back to the school!  You have a few options here - bring food from home and never leave the school, have food delivered by your parents to the school right after school, or leave and go to a fast food restaurant within a mile or two of the school with a dining room open (the mall is a good option).
 
Transportation

School Buses - depart from and return to the band room.  Please park in the parking spots in the parking lot when picking your student up.  Do not park on Billie Watkins St. or in the bus loop for student safety.
