Tuesday- Marching Band rehearsal 4-6 Guard Sectional 6-7. Wednesday-Off Thursday-NO MARCHING BAND REHEARSAL. Open House 6:00 pm Community pep rally 7:30 pm - see info below. Friday-Half day of school. Game @ Oxford. LONDON PAYMENT of $800 (total of $1800 for the trip) DUE! PASSENGER FORM DUE!! Gameday Information - Friday Schedule 8:30 am-Arrive at school as normal. Make sure you either wear your band polo and khaki shorts to school or have them with you to change into immediately after school. 12:30 pm - School dismisses (half day). Students will be able to eat lunch as normal during school hours (bring lunch or eat in the cafeteria). 12:45 pm - Load trucks 1:15 pm - Meet in band room for final announcements 1:30 pm - Depart on school buses for Oxford. Approximately 2.5 hours. 4:00 pm - Arrive in Oxford. Dinner close by school - please bring money. Options include Culver's, McDonald's Starbucks, Arby's, Burger King, Bojangles, Captain D's. 5:15 pm - Depart Dinner 5:30 pm - Arrive at Oxford HS Stadium. Unload, warm up. 6:40 pm - Enter Stadium 7:00 pm - Game starts ~9:45 pm - Game ends. Load trucks and back on buses 10:30 pm - Depart Oxford 1:00 am - Back at HHS. We will send out a REMIND text message when we depart Oxford with an estimated time of arrival. Please be here to pick up your student. We must UNLOAD the truck when we return!!!! Food Lunch is as normal at school. You will not have time to leave school at 12:40 to get food. Please bring money for 1 fast food meal. You can bring snacks on the bus as long as you pick up after yourself and the bus driver is ok with it. If students do not clean up after yourself, this privilege goes away. All drinks must have a screw on top. Options include Culver's, McDonald's Starbucks, Arby's, Burger King, Bojangles, Captain D's. Uniform woodwinds, brass, and percussion - Blue Band polos, khaki shorts, athletic shoes (no sandals, crocs, converse, etc), and ankle length socks. Color Guard casual uniform. Hair should be pulled back out of your face (including guys with long hair) and no jewelry. Pierced ears can be covered with band aids. What else to bring and other information Woodwinds and brass should have a flip folder and lyre. Students are given the option to use their phone app with music on in instead of a flip folder, but they must be able to play and read the music, so additional accessories may be necessary. Bring your water bottle!!! Bring your water bottle on the bus and in the stands at Oxford to stay hydrated. Students are not allowed to have food or any other liquids other than water in the stands. We do not have time to visit the concession stand. Only band students should be in our section of the stands. This is for the safety of our kids and our instruments. For instrument safety, instruments should be in your hands at all times. Laying an instrument down risks someone bumping into it, kicking it or stepping on it. Please do not pick up on Bilie Watkins St. Thursday, August 31st - Pep Rally To give students a chance to eat dinner and families to attend open house before the pep rally, we are cancelling rehearsal on Thursday. Marching Band students should be on the practice football field at 7:15 pm for the pep rally. This pep rally is open to all parents and friends. They will have free hot dogs and kona ice available if you come early, but all food should be eaten prior to 7:15 pm. You may dress in the theme of the pep rally or wear school/band t shirts. Car Show - Saturday, Sept 9th The Huntsville High Band Car Show is Saturday, September 9th from 4:00-8:30 pm at Milton Frank Stadium. What can you do to help? Promote our car show on social media and encourage people to sign up! There may also be some volunteer opportunities to serve this day! Marching band students: Marching Band will be required to perform our halftime show at 8:00 pm this night in full uniform (call time at 7:00 pm). The performance is open to the public. We will also have volunteer pep bands performing every hour at the event. Sign ups coming soon. Students will help determine some prizes for the show. Three days of school behind us and we are ready to roll into the first full week of school. Onward and upward! Band PicturesThe pictures taken August 1st can be viewed and purchased online.
