​Band Banquet

2024 Huntsville High School Band Banquet - Musicians Through the Ages
Join us for a great night to highlight the year and honor our seniors.  
The band banquet is for all band members and their families, seniors attend for free.

When:  Friday, May 17th
Where: The Royal Room at Stovehouse
Time:  Social begins at 6:00, Dinner begins at 6:30 
Dress:  Come dressed as your favorite musician, group, or Sunday best (No jeans or shorts please)  There will be a contest for best dressed musician and group!
Menu:  Olive Garden Fettuccine Alfredo with Chicken, Spaghetti with Meat Sauce, Salad, Breadsticks, Cake, and Drinks

Cost:  $40.00 per person (Seniors are free)  

Everyone must RSVP (even Seniors) via the Google doc and submit payment (cash or check) to the band box, or Venmo @HuntsvilleHS-BandParentAssoc (please be sure to list your students name in the note section) by Friday, May 10th.  We will not be allowing band banquet tickets to be "charged" to a Charms account, but if you have a Charms credit, this can be used.

Concert Uniform C​ollection

All issued uniform items (Concert and Marching) must be returned to the Uniform room no later than May 7, 2024.  All items must be dry cleaned.  Keep dry cleaning receipt attached to items as proof of dry cleaning or a $15 dry cleaning fee may be charged per item to your band account.  Any questions please contact [email protected]​​

Band Camp Lunch Planning

In thinking ahead about band camp lunches, please be aware that all students must prepay for both week's lunches to actually receive a lunch. You will no longer be able to charge these to your Charms account. More information will be provided as we get closer to Band Camp. ​

Rock your Socks Fundraiser
The Rock your Socks/Crazy Sock fundraiser is our final fundraiser for the year and is going through Friday, May 3rd.  All students on Wednesday or Thursday were set up for success by entering contacts into their fundraising system.  Please continue to enter contacts of people who may be interested in purchasing or by sharing this information!

For every pack of socks sold, we will be donating additional pair to the Downtown Rescue Mission or Graces of Gurley.

End of School Information
An email was sent out on Friday, April 26th with full details.  Families who do not take care of these items may prevent their student from participating in band next year.  Any unpaid balances or unreturned uniforms is documented and can prevent a student from walking at graduation at the time that student's graduation (even those who are no longer in band.)  It is crucial these items are taken care of in a timely manner.

All marching uniform parts are 2 months past due!  These need to be turned in ASAP.     
All concert uniforms should be dry-cleaned and turned in with a receipt and garment bag by May 7th.

School owned marching instruments should be taken to Southeastern Music Services now for standard maintenance.  Receipt must be turned into Mr. Kirk by the last day of school.

CHANGES FOR 2024-25 SCHOOL YEAR!!
Be aware that our managing software, Charms, was bought out by another company earlier this year.  That company is phasing Charms out this summer and a new system will be in place for the 24-25 school year.  It will hopefully be easier for you to access and easier for us to manage, but be prepared for some changes!  More information will be sent out as we transition.

Additionally, REMIND has changed in the past year, which has limited our ability to use it effectively.  We are going to be transitioning to using the "Band" app, which we used in London.  There are many capabilities of that app.  Your phone will not blow up with messages like it did in London - there are ways to change settings and offer options with the App.

More information coming as we start transitioning!

Band Banquet

​**Mark your calendars** The Band Banquet will be held at Stovehouse on May 17th! The theme this year is 'Musicians through the Ages'. More details will follow as we get closer to the event.

Concert Uniform Collection

The HHS Band season will be officialing over at the conclusion of the spring concert scheduled for April 23, 2024.  All issued uniform items (Concert and Marching) must be returned to the Uniform room no later than May 7, 2024.  All items must be dry cleaned.  Keep dry cleaning receipt attached to items as proof of dry cleaning or a $15 dry cleaning fee may be charged per item to your band account.  Any questions please contact [email protected]

Rock your Socks Fundraiser
The Rock your Socks/Crazy Sock fundraiser is our final fundraiser for the year and is going through Friday, May 3rd.  All students on Wednesday or Thursday were set up for success by entering contacts into their fundraising system.  Please continue to enter contacts of people who may be interested in purchasing or by sharing this information!

Congrats to our students who made all state band - Jody, Tori, Calen, Daniel, Jayne, Kianna, and Matthew!  They should have received their heart out code to submit their recorded audition.

Here is the information and schedule for all state:  Official 2024 ALL-STATE BAND FESTIVAL Schedule (alaband.org).  You will be excused Thursday, April 25 at lunch (A Day - you'll miss band and 4th block) and all-day Friday April 26th from school.   You must attend every rehearsal and the concert!

From "Sweeney Todd" to A-Day with the MDB, band kids are the hardest working kids in the business and are definitely multi-tallented!! Congratulations to everyone on another successful year of theatre. And a big shout out to Mr. Kirk for his support for all these students- and of course, Mr. Tankesley too, he just happens to not be pictured here.

  • If you want to break it up into three payments:
o   1st payment due by Rookie camp (May 28-31)
o   2nd payment due by Band Camp Week #1 (July 15-19)
o   3rd payment due by the Fall Concert (usually early November)

We will return around 3:45 pm

Attention Parents of Seniors

​Class of 2024 parents, you should have received an email from [email protected] several weeks ago with the topic: Band Banquet Video.  If you did not receive it, we may have the wrong contact information for you and need you to send an email to [email protected] with your Senior's full name. Please respond to the email with your photos and information as soon as possible so Marvin can be working on the video.

Percussion Ensemble and Chamber music concert - Thursday, April 18th
This concert is coming up soon!  We hope you will join us with one of our favorite concerts of the year at 7:00 pm in the auditorium.  In addition to our percussion ensemble performing, we open this concert to solos, duets, and other small groups to perform!

Students who would like to sign up to perform, need to sign up here.

Solo and Ensemble - May 4th
Solo and Ensemble is another optional opportunity students have.  This year it is Saturday, May 4th at Priceville High School.  Students must provide their own transportation to and from the event.  The cost is $10 per solo and $5 per person, per event for performances involving more than 1 student and will be charged to your charms account.   If you are planning to go to prom that evening, you can request a morning time.
