Weekly Schedule 
Monday -  All Marching Band members 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Tuesday -  First day of school.  First after school marching rehearsal 4-6 pm.  Color Guard sectional 6-7.  Bring instruments.
Wednesday - Marching Percussion Sectional 4 - 5:30
Thursday - After school marching band 4-6
Friday - Preview Show at Milton Frank Stadium (see below)

Band Preview Show 

When:  Friday, August 5th starting at 7:00 pm. 
Where:  Milton Frank Stadium 
Uniform:  Polo shirt tucked into khaki shorts with a belt,  tennis shoes, ankle socks (no long socks).    Color guard uniform will be different (check with your section leader).
Cost: FREE!! Invite your family and friends!

IF YOU HAVE NOT GOTTEN A POLO SHIRT YET, PLEASE SEE BEN BOLES AT PRACTICE MONDAY NIGHT

Schedule:

6:00 pm Trucks arrive and unload.
6:15 pm Students arrive.  Get instruments out - meet in sections.
6:15 pm - PARENT TRAINING!  If you are interested in being a chaperone or helping out at the football games, please attend this training with Audrey Beumer!  Meet over towards the band trucks.
We are looking for volunteers to sign up for shifts driving the band truck, pulling the band trailer, and producing the weekly newsletter.  Please see Ben Boles & Les Skulski at this area too.


6:30 pm  Physical and Music Warm up on the field (we will take you through music warm ups and physical warm ups and give you some inside information about what we do and why we do it!).
7:00 pm  Program starts.  You will see the pregame show and halftime show... as well as hear some of our favorite stand tunes! 
                     
The program should last about 30 minutes.

Other
We will treat Friday as a "normal" football game day.  We plan on packing the trucks during the school day and immediately after school.

Make sure you have: Instrument or equipment (or packed it on the truck), flip folder with music and lyre, water bottle.    

This event serves both as a preview for our families and community as well as training for adults and students on how we operate trucks, logistics, sounds equipment, and more!  

First Day of School

Make sure you have your CONCERT instrument on the first day.  We will have after school marching rehearsal after school.  Students are allowed to come to the band room once the school opens at 8:00 am to put their instrument up!  

Schedule Changes!!!!! 

We were informed this week that the Bob Jones game currently scheduled for Friday, September 16th has been moved to Thursday, September 15th.  The game is still at Madison City Stadium.

The Huntsville Junior High vs. Hampton Cove game has now been added to the calendar.  The date is Monday, September 19th.  The game is at 6:30 pm.  More detailed schedule as we get closer.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WIND ENSEMBLE
The Wind Ensemble was selected to perform at the Alabama Music Educator Association (AMEA) state conference January 19-21, 2023 in Birmingham.  

This is one of the biggest musical honors that you can be given in the state of Alabama.   Our students will be able to highlight our band program and inspire other educators as we perform for the music teachers in the state of Alabama.  This performance is also open to the public.  

We will have an exact performance time and date in the coming months.   We will perform at preview concert in January at HHS prior to going!

Band Classes / Schedules

As we have told the marching band students, mistakes on the first draft of your schedule that you picked up this week are very common.  Although your counselors aren't responsible for the mistakes, they are terrific about getting things right.  I know this can be a little frustrating and stressful especially for the 9th graders.  It may take a little time though - even into the first week of school for some people.  

The band class schedule for the year is the same as it has been the past couple of years.  If your band class is incorrect, please fill out a schedule mistake form at the school and put it in the proper basket.  If you have questions and are not sure if your schedule is correct or not, ask a leadership team member or a director.  Your class assignment is dictated by what you signed up for (Marching Band/Concert only and your audition (Symphonic band or wind Ensemble).  Those results are posted in the band room.

All 9th graders in marching band have been given opportunities during lunch for an older band member to walk them through their schedule so they know where they are going.  

A Day Classes
1A - Symphonic Band Percussion (except for Grant, DJ, Aiden, and Dallas)
2A - Symphonic Band Winds (Woodwinds and Brass and also including Grant, DJ, Aiden, and Dallas)
3A - All Wind Ensemble students

B Day Classes

3B - Color Guard members
4B - Marching Band Percussion Students (all front ensemble and battery members)

These competitions are what we work all season towards. They are required. Please keep your calendar clear on these dates and plan for a full day event.  We take charter buses to these events.   We would love to have a great cheering section as well!

Great things about Summer Band Camp include doing amazing things as a team.  Truck Crew leadership and Band Leadership scraped off the logos prepping our truck for a new wrap - thanks to Owenn Skulski (Junior) and Les Skulski (truck dad) for outstanding efforts.,  HHS Alum Terry Ellington from Magic Touch Detail came to polish it off... and our kids ate in style last week thanks to a sponsorship from Outback Steakhouse.  It takes a village, Friends, and ours is strong!

Band Preview Show and Uniform

Our marching band preview show will be Friday, August 5th in the evening.  Exact Time and location are TBA.  We originally had Milton Frank Stadium booked, but because of some renovations, we may have our preview show on our field at HHS.

Students wear their band polo, khaki shorts with belt, athletic shoes and short socks for the preview show and our first couple of football games.  If you do not own a pair of khaki shorts, please get some ASAP.

Thanks to everyone for your attendance at our Parent Meeting Thursday.  We have had a few people inquire about serving on the Board in a larger capacity next year.  Couple things:

• We will form a nominating committee early and hope to have names by the 2nd football game
• Please come say "hi" evenings this week.  I'll be there between 6:30pm and 9:15pm each night on the field.  I'd love to visit with you about ways we can improve and benefit from "fresh eyes.,"
• We are looking for a new President, Volunteer Coordinator, Fundraising co-chair, Color Guard liaison, newsletter publisher, trip coordinator and executive pastry chef (not really).

2020 - Corona Virus, tiny band, freezing cold and rain.  The game ended and the happiest people in the stadium - the HHS Band!  Enjoy below - and prepare for this emotion every time the Crimson Panthers take the field.

We have vacancies on the Board for next year that some shadowing would be helpful.  We have a pretty good playbook for the year ahead.  If you "catch band fever" and want to walk into a winning team environment, this is a fun and rewarding volunteer gig.  Plus - our finances are in very good shape and our long-term purchases are for the most part... complete.
