Things we like

Best in class two weeks in a row!! These students are simply amazing. Their hard work and dedication have paid off big time all while creating memories to last a lifetime. Go Big Red!!

Playoffs
The Huntsville High School football team was eliminated from the playoffs after the game against Austin.  We will not be attending any playoff games.  Our final football game is this Thursday.

Thursday, November 9th - Hampton Cove Elementary
On Thursday, November 9, our leadership team will perform for the Hampton Cove Elementary Veteran's Day Parade in the morning.  We will meet at Hampton Cove Elementary at 8:30 am and should be done around 9:30. Please plan to carpool.  You will miss band class only this day.  

Halloween Party and "The Bandies"
After school on November 9th, we will be having a student-led Halloween party and our annual student-organized marching band award ceremony called "the bandies."

All students in the band program are welcome to join!  We will wrap up by 5:30 pm at the latest.

Gameday Information - Thursday
Schedule
5:30 pm - Meet at Milton Frank Stadium. Unload.
5:45 pm - Warm ups
6:35 pm - Enter Stadium.   Pregame Show
7:00 pm - Game Starts.  We will do an abbreviated halftime show followed by senior recognitions.
~9:45 pm - Game ends and load trucks

Uniform
Full band uniform.  Color Guard will wear STADIUM UNIFORM.  Bring your uniform in your garment bag with all accessories (shoes, black socks, shako, gloves, gauntlets).

Hair should be pulled back out of your face (including guys with long hair) and no jewelry.  Pierced ears can be covered with band aids. 

Fall Concert - Tuesday, November 7th
Students should arrive dressed at 6:15 pm.  
Warm up starts at 6:30 pm
7:00 pm - Concert Begins in the Auditorium.

Wear your tuxedo/concert dress.

The concert is free and open to the public!

Because we are combining bands (and the choir joining us) for the Winter Concert and because we are adding parade rehearsals for London, we are editing the November and early December schedule.  Thank you for understanding as we navigate our London trip and the wind ensemble's CBDNA performance in Memphis on March 1st.

What a great weekend to be a Huntsville Panther!! Double overtime win against Sparkman Friday night and All superior ratings plus best in class band, percussion, drum major, and piccolo solo (yay Amelia!) at the Hoover invitational marching competition Saturday night. Way to go Band!! 

Last Call for Boston Butts

All Boston butt order forms are due no later than this Tuesday October 24th. Please get all remaining orders into the band box ASAP. If using Venmo, please include name of buyer, name of band student, and boston butt in the memo line. We currently need people to help with Bost Butt fundraiser pick up at HHS Saturday November 4th. please contact Michelle McNabb with any questions @ [email protected]

We are in need of more volunteers to ride the bus Friday to the ballgame at A&M. Please sign up in charms if you are able to help out.

8:30 am - arrive to school as normal.  Make sure you have all of your uniform and accessories and hang them in the band room!!
Load Trucks - "A" Day Load.
3:40 pm - School dismisses.   You can leave campus and get food, have food delivered, or bring your own dinner to school in the morning.
5:00 pm - Back at school.  IN UNIFORM!
5:15 pm - Depart for Alabama A&M.  traveling in Uniform
5:45 pm - Arrive at Alabama A&M.  Unload and warm up
6:35 pm - Enter Stadium.   
7:00 pm - Game Starts.  
~9:45 pm - Game ends and load trucks
10:30 pm - Depart for home
11:00 pm - Back at school.  

Food
You can leave campus and get food, have food delivered, or bring your own dinner to school in the morning.  All students must be back in the band room by 5:00 pm

Wind Ensemble pictures
The Wind Ensemble will be taking pictures on Wednesday, October 25th during 3rd and 4th block at Big Spring Park. We are planning to carpool over.  This is for our CBDNA performance program book.  You will need your tuxedo or dress and all parts on this day!  We will dress after lunch and head to big spring park around 1:15 or 1:30 pm.  You will need to take your instrument.  


Rome Competition - Saturday, October 28th
Schedule
8:00 am - band room open
9:00 am - 10:30 am- rehearsal
10:30-11:45 - Eat and Load.  The Boosters are providing pizza for everyone!
12:00 pm - Depart for Rome, Ga on 3 charter buses. (3 hour drive plus time change).
4:00 pm (Eastern time) - Arrive in Rome.  Unload and prepare for performance
5:15 pm - Warm up
6:00 pm - Performance
6:15 pm - change, eat dinner at concessions.  Load trucks
9:00 pm - Awards
10:00 pm (Eastern time) - Depart for Home
12:00 am (Central time)- Back at school

Uniform

Full Band Uniform.  Color Guard in red dresses.  We will travel in dry fit shirts/jackets and shorts/sweats.  We will have time to dress when we arrive.  Color Guard should have hair and make-up done before we arrive in Rome.

Lunch - pizza in the band room!
Bring money for dinner at the concession stand.  Cash, credit card, and tap to pay accepted.

What a full and wonderful homecoming week! Congratulations to our very own Jody Shaw for representing the band and the senior class in the homecoming court. She is a true class act, and we are so very proud of her! 

Show shirts

Boston Butts

Please turn in any Boston Butt orders you already have. This will allow us to get an accurate count of how many we've sold. October 24th is the final deadline to have all orders in.  Chuckwagon will be providing our butts this year and pick up will be on November 4 in front of the Freshman Academy from 9-11.  You can use the attached flier to take orders.  Please attach money to order form before putting in band box.  If using Venmo, please include name of buyer, name of band student, and boston butt in the memo line.

London apparel and merch

The final order date for the London apparel will be October 20th. That is just a little over a week, so don't delay in getting your orders placed if you are wanting merchandise. These can be paid through Venmo or a check in the band box.

Uniform reminders

​Please remember that the uniforms are dry clean only! You may get it cleaned, as needed, during the season but no washing at home. If there are any questions or concerns, please contact Kelly. [email protected]
Also, everyone please make sure that the snaps at the bottom of the bibbers are completely snapped all the way up the pant leg on both sides. If you only snap the top snap, the legs will look poofy at the bottom. Nobody wants poofy legs so snap, snap.

Small but mighty! The pep band sounded great and had a wonderful time cheering the Panthers on to a victory against Albertville Thursday night. Thank you to all who attended!

Boston Butts

Please turn in any Boston Butt orders you already have when you get back from fall break. This will allow us to get an accurate count of how many we've sold. Purdy, Loretta Purdy Spencer and John’s two children are all graduates of HHS and Sarah Spencer Chappell was a dedicated HHS volunteer and supporter of many organizations on campus during her husband, Mike’s, tenure as head of the Theatre Department and while their sons were students.
