[email protected] & [email protected]Wind Ensemble After School Schedule Because of the new staggered schedule, Wind Ensemble will meet both Tuesday and Thursday next week (Dec 8 and 10th) from 4:00 - 5:30 pm to prepare for the concert on December 15th. Band students are encouraged and have permission to come to band class any day during their regular class even if it's not during your assigned day. You can come in the doors by the band room. We know for some this is not possible because of transportation, but for those that can come we encourage it! All order forms and checks (made out to HHS Band) are due to Elena Barbre or to the band room by Tuesday, Dec. 1. SPIRIT NIGHT - BAND FUNDRAISER - EAT OUT FOR A GOOD CAUSE!!!HHS Band is having their first SPIRIT NIGHT on December 12th @ Super Chix from 4-9pm! Let's get the word out and promote it as much as possible - the more it's promoted the more funds we will raise for the band. So please post to all of your social media (Facebook, InstantGram, etc.) and create an event to remind all of our followers to participate. No band activities are scheduled for the week - please practice at home!Editor's Note: Mr. Tankesley is recovering nicely following his bout with CoronaVirus! He is getting great TLC from his wife, Anna and his son, Connor. He tells me that the texts, emails, calls and prayers WORK and are appreciated! These premium sheets, towels, and pillows come in a range of sizes (including XL Twin sheets to fit dorm room beds) and make great holiday gifts. Each set is $40, and shipping is included. Online ordering is also available for your out-of-town family and friends, for a price of $49.50 per set (but the band gets less profit from this option). See your sales packet for details. All proceeds from this fundraiser will directly benefit the band. Any student who sells at least 12 sets of sheets, towels, or a combination of both will receive their choice of a free $10 VISA gift card or a free set of sheets/towels! I wanted to take a second and thank you for your support so far this year and particularly at our concert this week. We couldn't do this without your support of the program and your kids. We also couldn't do this without a terrific booster club and our administration at HHS who has helped us out many times this year! We have kicked off our bed sheet fundraiser!! If you did not receive a packet on Thursday, please let Mrs. Connell know and she will get you one in class this week. We want to emphasize that these fundraisers are crucial for us particularly this year! Social media is always a great place to advertise our fundraisers (and most of the time makes it easier on you!). Last - I have a little bit of bad news to share. I tested positive for COVID this weekend. I will be quarantined until November 17th. HCS and public health guidance currently states that anyone a COVID patient was around 48 hours prior to exhibiting symptoms at a distance of less than 6 feet for more than a combined 15 minutes in a 24-hour period should quarantine. The concert Thursday night fits during this 48-hour time frame. While I was around many people Thursday night, I believe very few people fit the 6 ft / 15 minute rule. Based on how we set things up for band class, how the concert was set up, and reviewing all my conversations from this week, I believe there are no students that fit the 6/15 rule. We will have ushers at the concert to help you find your seat if you need it. There are approximately 350 seats available for 125 groups Band students do not need an e-ticket. Anyone without a ticket will be seated at 6:55 pm if there are remaining seats so it’s very important to reserve your tickets in advance. Concert Time: 7:00 pm Seating begins at 6:30 for those that have tickets and for 6:55 first come for anyone without a ticket. Students should arrive by 6:15 pm in their concert attire (no changing at school unless it has been approved by a director in advance) Concert attire for students is our standard concert uniform (Tuxedo shirt, full tuxedo, black socks, black shoes, cummerbund and bowtie for guys and concert dress with black close-toed dress shoes for ladies.
