Things We Like

Last week, we celebrated the HHS Band's 2024-2025 year at a Wild West-themed banquet at the historic Huntsville Depot Roundhouse. Congrats to our seniors, award recipients, students, parents, and directors for their numerous achievements! More highlights HERE.

2025-26 Senior Photo & Bio Info

There are two important updates for our upcoming Senior Band members:

1) Senior Photos for Football Program & Banner
Keep an eye out for a postcard from K. Waldrup Studio & Design — that’s your cue to schedule your senior photo session.
Be sure to tell them you’re in BAND so they schedule extra time for a uniform photo.
Wear black pants or leggings to your appointment.
Bring your instrument — we’ll have band jackets available in 3–4 sizes for you to wear during the photo.
These photos will be used in the **football media guide **and on our senior banner.

2) Senior Bios for the Football Media Guide
All seniors are invited to submit a short bio for the football program.
Deadline: June 12th — no exceptions
Email your bio to Mrs. Parrish at: [email protected]
If you do not submit a bio by the deadline, you will not be included in the media guide.
Below are a few examples to help you get started (feel free to personalize!):
Please reach out if you have any questions. We’re looking forward to celebrating our amazing seniors all season long!

Weekly Schedule

Monday:  Spring Training 4:15-6:45 pm (Drum Majors, Captains, and section leaders only with upcoming 9th graders).
Tuesday:   Spring Training 4:15-6:45 pm (Drum Majors, Captains, and section leaders only with upcoming 9th graders).
Wednesday:  Off
Thursday:  Graduation! (see information below)
Friday: Off.

Exams
Band exams for 2A, 3A, and 1B will meet during the scheduled exam time to rehearse for graduation.

DCI
We are planning on doing an optional trip to DCI again this year on Friday, July 25th.  The competition has shifted from the MTSU football stadium to Nissan Field in Nashville (where the Titans play).  We plan on dismissing camp after the morning session.  We will depart in the afternoon and return LATE (midnight or later).  We have 50 tickets available on a first come basis.  Any band student (including concert only) or direct family member can attend (in fact we definitely could use adult chaperones).  Once the cost (1 ticket+bus) is determined, we will let you know.  The first 50 people to pay on Venmo to HuntsvilleHS-BandParentAssoc (please indicate this payment is for DCI and the names of the people attending) or make arrangements for credits/check directly with Mrs. Tapia ([email protected]) will go.

Next Week's Newsletter
Next Sunday will be the final newsletter for this school year. We will take a break from the newsletters, but you still may receive some emails regarding band camp meals or volunteering at band camp over the summer.  We will send out a big band camp email around or just after the 4th of July.

Next week's email will have a tentative band camp schedule and a tentative full schedule of events for 25-26.

Things We Like

The Wind Ensemble had an incredible experience at Georgia State Educational Outreach for the Arts and the Georgia Aquarium! After months of hard work on a very challenging program, they delivered a fantastic performance and represented Huntsville High School and our band program with excellence.
Following our performance, students took part in a master class with guest instructors and peers from other schools. We capped off the day with dinner at The Varsity—an Atlanta classic—and enjoyed hearing more outstanding performances from fellow ensembles.

So proud of these talented students and all they’ve accomplished! Click HERE to check out more photos from their trip.

Championships
Based on the poll, an overwhelming majority wants to carpool and do this trip separately rather than do an overnight trip together.  All students will be responsible for getting to Bowling Green.  However, Mrs. Gorman can help arrange some carpools if needed.  Nicole Gorman - [email protected].  We will not be taking a bus to this event.

Our classification is scheduled to perform between 10:15 am and 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 29th - typically we will meet 2 to 2.5 hours prior to our performance.  We do not have an exact time yet.

Updates 1/20/25:
Here is the most updated itinerary.  We hate that we cannot perform the national anthem at the Cardinals game.  This was well beyond our control and we did everything we could to make it happen.  Because we are unable to perform the national anthem at the Cardinals game, it is going to save everyone $40 on the trip.
