Picture
A huge congratulations to Mr. Tankesley on his election as President-Elect for the Alabama Music Educators Association (AMEA). We are incredibly proud to have his leadership representing Huntsville High School at the state level.
Kudos to our student leaders! Throughout April, some of our students have been diving deep into what it means to be a leader. Beyond interviews with community mentors and leadership workshops, a core part of their application process was a servant leadership service project. From assisting our feeder programs to improving our own band facilities, these students have shown that true leadership starts with a heart for service.

Things We Like

Thanks to some incredible volunteers and the generosity of Huntsville High School and Mrs. Flippo, we now have a brand-new storage shed! A dedicated crew of "Band Dads" rolled up their sleeves to get the structure assembled. This addition will make a massive difference in how we store props and equipment to support our students throughout the season. A special shout-out to our building crew, Andrew Kirk, Justin Osborne, Keith Osborne (Justin’s Dad), Steven Black, Chad Raburn, and Michael Stahl, for their hard work and expertise.

Congratulations to our Youth Brass Academy (YBA) students who traveled to Fort Wayne, Indiana, this weekend to compete in the North American Brass Band Association (NABBA) Championships: Jacob Black, Emily Black, Shelby O’Linger, and Logan Eley

Help Wanted: HHS Band Video Coordinator for 2026–27

We’re looking ahead to the 2026–27 school year and have an important HHS Band Parents Board position we need to fill — Video Coordinator.

Now is a great time to follow up with any people you have already talked to that need a mattress. If you have not found your 1 person, please share our Facebook event and invite all friends and family! Here is the link to our event page. https://www.facebook.com/events/2098543624222999

The students accomplished SO MUCH this year, and it has been a blessing to witness such growth and achievement with this group. I also want to thank the parents who have adjusted to the many changes this year. Although everything did not work out as smoothly as we had hoped for, we are so appreciative for your patience and support as we adjusted to new color guard staff. You being there for your child and helping in all the ways possible has not gone unnoticed. Thank you for all you do for this team.  -Annabella Morales-
