From "Sweeney Todd" to A-Day with the MDB, band kids are the hardest working kids in the business and are definitely multi-tallented!! Congratulations to everyone on another successful year of theatre. And a big shout out to Mr. Kirk for his support for all these students- and of course, Mr. Tankesley too, he just happens to not be pictured here. 

Band Banquet

**Mark your calendars** The Band Banquet will be held at Stovehouse on May 17th! The theme this year is 'Musicians through the Ages'. More details will follow as we get closer to the event

Spring Concert Pictures

​Concert pictures will be taken on April 23rd beginning at 5:30 before the Spring Concert.

Band Fees

​To help in planning, here are the band fees and due dates for the 2024-25 school year:
Marching band fees - $750
Color guard fees - $750
Concert only fees - $375
Siblings are at 50% of applicable fee
 
Due dates:

• To receive a 5% discount, pay in full by Rookie Camp (May 28-31).  Marching band discounted amount is $712.50; Concert band discounted amount is $356.25
• If you want to break it up into three payments:

o   1st payment due by Rookie camp (May 28-31)
o   2nd payment due by Band Camp Week #1 (July 15-19)
o   3rd payment due by the Fall Concert (usually early November)

Schedule for the week

​Monday-Symphonic Band 4:00 - 5:30 pm.   
Tuesday-Percussion Ensemble Trip to Austin HS (all day).  School Board recognizes HHS Band for Superior Ratings at MPA at board meeting.  
Wednesday-Off.  Kick off of crazy sock fundraiser!
Thursday-Percussion Ensemble and Chamber Music Concert - 7:00 pm
Friday-Color Guard "tour" - all day.

Percussion Ensemble Trip - Percussion Day
On Tuesday, April 16th, our Percussion ensemble (percussion members in 4B Class) is going to Austin High School for their annual Day of Percussion with other percussion ensembles from our area.   

Tentative schedule
8:00 am - Arrive at school and load small equipment
8:30 am - Depart on school bus
Lunch provided (pizza)
3:00 pm - Event ends
We will return around 3:45 pm 

Wear your drumline jersey and jeans.

8:30 am - Load and Depart for Goldsmith Schiffman Elementary School
9:00 am - Arrive and unload!
9:15 am -11:15 am -Performances and demonstrations for Elementary School PE Classes
11:15 Load
11:30-1:00 pm Lunch - location TBA - Bring $$ for lunch
1:00 pm - Meet at HJHS 
1:30 pm - Performance!!
2:00 pm - Load
2:15 pm - Depart. 

You are excused from class all day.
We are planning to carpool.

Auditions
April 29-May 3   4-6 pm in the FA Cafeteria.
No experience necessary.  Any 9-12 grade HHS students are welcome to audition!

Spring Concert - Tuesday, April 23
7:00 pm 
HHS Auditorium
Free and open to the public!

Students should wear tux/dresses.
6:15 call time!

All State Band Festival
Congrats to our students who made all state band - Jody, Tori, Calen, Daniel, Jayne, Kianna, and Matthew!  They should have received their heart out code to submit their recorded audition.  Audition must be recorded on the heart out app and submitted by April 12.  The lyrical etude is what they should record.

Here is the information and schedule for all state:  Official 2024 ALL-STATE BAND FESTIVAL Schedule (alaband.org).  You will be excused Thursday, April 25 at lunch (A Day - you'll miss band and 4th block) and all day Friday April 26th from school.   You must attend every rehearsal and the concert!

Summer Schedule 2024
April 29-May 3-Color Guard Auditions 4-6 pm.
Week of May 6 - Auditions in Class for 24-25 school year ( 9th grade after school)
May 10-11-Marching Percussion Auditions - Fri - 4-8, Saturday 8:30-12:30 (required for all percussion in marching band).
May 28-31 (Tuesday-Friday) Rookie Camp 8 -12 (required for new members and leadership team), Color Guard Camp.
June 30-July 2-Leadership Camp.  Sunday, June 30th will be afternoon/evening.  July 1st and 2nd - all day. (leadership team only)
July 10-12-Make up Rookie Camp 8-12.  Marching Percussion Camp 12-4. (required for percussion in marching band)
July 15 - 19-Band Camp Week #1.  All Day.  (required for all marching band students)
July 22-26-Band Camp Week #2.  All day (required for all marching band students).  Band Camp on July 26th will dismiss at noon.
July 29-31 Additional rehearsals 6-9 pm.
July 26-optional trip to DCI in Murfreesboro for additional cost.
