SCHEDULE FOR THE WEEK!

Schedule for the week August 31- September 4
Monday – Percussion/Guard 4:00-5:30
Tuesday – FULL BAND!!! 4:00-5:30  Large instruments load the truck after rehearsal (percussion, tubas, guard, drum major podiums) from 5:30-6:00.  Booster Meeting at 7:00 pm via Zoom.
Wednesday – Off             
Thursday – Game vs. Grissom (see scheduled below).
Friday – Off

GAMEDAY SCHEDULE

Gameday Schedule – Thursday, Sept 3rd
5:45 pm – Arrive at Alabama A&M.  Use the link above and have your temperature checked by a director.  Students are responsible for their own transportation to games in Huntsville.  We are planning to meet on the Southeast side of the stadium like we always do.  We are planning to be able to bring a truck this week for percussion and large equipment.  If we can’t, students with larger instruments will be responsible for getting their equipment to the game and we will not take front ensemble equipment if we can’t put it on the truck.
 
5:45 pm  - Arrive, temperature check, check in with form
6:00 pm – Walk into the stadium and get set up
7:00 pm – Game Starts.  
Approximately 9:30 pm -  Game ends and dismiss.
 
Uniform:  Polo shirt (tucked in), khaki shorts, ankle length (or shorter) socks, and tennis shoes.
All students are responsible for bringing their instrument to the game except for large instruments/equipment that students place on the truck.
Students should bring their large marching band water jug to the game.  Students should eat on their own before coming to the game.  Students are not able to visit the concession stand during the game. 
 
Reminder that all students must wear a mask while not playing and must have stay seated 6 feet apart.

The Huntsville High School Band now has an online spirit-wear store.  It will be open at certain times of the year for orders.  Our first window is from now until September 15th.  Right now, we have 2 shirt options (including this year’s show shirt!) and a HHS Band mask.  Check it out!  You can pay for shipping directly to your house or pick it up at school.  https://my.cheddarup.com/c/hhs-marching-band  Thank you to Darin Miller and the boosters for helping make this possible!
 
Reminders
  • Senior Night has been changed by the school from the last game of the regular season to the September 11th game when we play Bob Jones.  This change was made to increase the odds that there will be a senior night this year!  Christy Rainey is our senior night coordinator this year:  Christy.rainey@me.com
  • All marching band students that are participating in in-person activities should now have a band polo shirt.  If you did not get one, please come talk to or email a band director.  If you are not participating in in-person activities or are concert only, you will receive your shirt when we see you.  Make sure you have khaki shorts to wear with your polo for the game on Sept 3. 
  • All band students (including those not participating in in-person activities right now and concert-only) should have turned in their paperwork and paid their first band fee at this point.  If you have not please contact a director to make arrangements to drop this off!   The paperwork packet can be found in schoology as well as our dropbox.  https://www.dropbox.com/s/e6nmjlrddxi3p6a/BandForms2020.pdf?dl=0  You can also scan the paperwork to us.  All Band students and parents should have communication through REMIND and this weekly newsletter.  You should all have access to charms (charmsoffice.com) for your financial account and the electronic band calendar (which we encourage you to sync to your smart phone).

FIRST FUNDRAISER ALERT!

​2020 Letter Writing Campaign Starts This Week
 
Last year’s letter writing campaign brought in more than $7,300 to the Huntsville High School Band. We appreciate the support of everyone who participated!
We are asking for your help again. This year’s letter writing campaign is targeted to our freshmen and new student families, but all band families who can participate are encouraged to do so!
 
Please provide us with the names and addresses of your family members, friends, and coworkers by filling out the form below (submit the form one time for each addressee).

We will provide you with a postage-paid addressed envelope, a postage-paid return envelope, and a letter to sign, personalize and send to each person, requesting financial support for our band program. 
 
For each donation we receive as a result of your letters, 50% will go to the band and 50% will go to your individual Charms account to be used for your band expenses. 
 
Your packets of letters will be available to pick up at the entrance to the band room off Billie Watkins Street on Tuesday, September 8, at 3:30 and Thursday, September 10, at 5:30. These times coincide with after school practices. If you can’t pick up during one of those times, please contact Elena Barbre at ebarbre@comcast.net to arrange another time.
 
This is going to be an extraordinary year. Though it will look different, we are committed to providing the financial support that will maintain quality experiences for our band students and their families. We appreciate your help. Together, we can continue the legacy of the Huntsville High School Band!
