Things We Like

What a proud moment for the HHS Band as Alumni performed in front of 88,000 at the Iron Bowl this past Saturday!  Band takes you to amazing places - Southern Cathedrals of culture around the Southeastern Conference.  Many thanks for coming together!  Alabama and Auburn Marching Band students travel to select road games with charter bus, police escort and catering.  In a 48 hour span, the Million Dollar Band members traveled to New York City (New York City!!!) to headline the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade... in CHARTER AIRPLANES... returned home, immediately loaded to Auburn, and Sunday performed at the Bama Women's Game.  In some cases - even getting paid.  This is an extraordinary way to go through college - and it all starts by learning basics of technique, theory and musicianship.  Visit with Mr. Tankesley, Mrs. Connell, or any band parent of a college student to learn more about the incredible opportunity BAND offers you in college!  This is the Big Leagues!  And the HHS Crimson Panther Band is so proud!

Schedule for the Week

Weekly Schedule
Monday - Symphonic Band 4:00- 5:30 pm.  Deposit for Disney/Universal Due to website (see below!)
Tuesday - Wind Ensemble 4:00-5:30 pm
Wednesday:  Off.  
Thursday:  No Wind Ensemble rehearsal.  HCMS Band Christmas Concert 6:00 pm in the Auditorium!
Friday:  Off.  

Disney/Universal 2022 - April 20-24, 2022.

Update:  Chaperones that want to go should register like a student, but there are adult options in the registration.  Adults can sign up for rooms of 2 or single rooms.
Below is a link that will allow you to purchase the Group travel protection plan for your trip. Rates are based on overall trip cost and not age. All payments will be made directly to the travel company through this website.  Do not submit any payments for this trip to the band box!  If you wish to use funds from your Charms band account to make a payment, please email Brenda Tapia ([email protected]) with how much you would like to use prior to the payment due.  Because we send the travel company a check from the boosters, there may be some lag time in processing it on the website.  When you register an account on the website, you will be asked to make your deposit at that time.  

The payment schedule is as follows:

Deposit of $250 due by Monday, November 29th.
$300 payment due by Friday, December 24th
$300 payment due by Friday, January 21st
Remaining balance due by Monday, February 21st

Anyone going is VERY strongly encouraged to purchase "Cancel for any reason" trip insurance.  You will find an option to purchase "Cancel for any reason" trip insurance on the website or you can use your own insurance to do so.  Anyone without "Cancel for any reason" trip insurance is risking not receiving a refund if the trip were to be cancelled or you were not allowed to go due to quarantine/Covid.  A form will be out soon to indicate your choice with this.  In the case of the trip insurance offered by our travel company, you can purchase it anytime up to the last payment.  Once you have paid your trip in full, you are not eligible to receive trip insurance. 

 Band trips are open to ALL students in the band program, which includes anyone in a band class including Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Color Guard, or Percussion.  

Winter Christmas Concert

Our Winter Christmas Concert is Tuesday, December 7th.  The concert is free of charge and open to the public!  Final information will be in next week's newsletter.

5:45 Gadsden Music set up in the lobby with upgrade instrument petting zoo
6:15  Student Call time
6:30 pm  Warm up (Stage/Band Room)
7:00 pm Concert Begins

Silent Auction
There will be a silent auction taking place during the concert, so bring your checkbook and check out what we have to offer!

Gadsden Music Petting Zoo
As indicated on the special newsletter last Sunday, Gadsden Music will set up an upgrade instrument petting zoo in the lobby of the auditorium.  Students and families can go try upgraded instruments before or after the concert with no obligation to purchase.

Upcoming Schedule

Auditions for Spring semester 2022 are December 8-10.  Music is in schoology!

Winter Camp is Feb 3-5, 2022 (Thursday evening, all day Friday, Saturday until 1:00 pm).  This is a big deal!  Wind Ensemble and Symphonic band attendance required.
