Fall Break Game - October 7th
EVERYONE needs to fill out this form (1 response per student) regarding the Fall Break game so we know how many buses and trucks to take and plan for dinner. We need this by this Friday! https://forms.gle/ZAikkhTJLf6A55Y38 Marching Performance - Monday HCMS vs. HJHS Game Location - Milton Frank Stadium. Transportation Meet at Milton Frank Stadium. Because of our truck situation, we need everyone to bring their instrument. Schedule 3:40 pm - School ends 5:15 pm - 6:00 pm Tail Gate with HCMS and HJHS Students at Milton Frank North endzone. We are ordering 100 pizzas, waters, and desserts! 5:45 pm - 6:30 pm - Unload and short warm up. 6:30 pm - Game starts. We will play stand tunes, play with the middle school bands, and perform the halftime show at halftime. 8:30 pm - Approximate Dismissal. What to wear: Polos and shorts! Color Guard uniform - Color Guard t shirt and shorts. Other important information: Because our truck broke down last Thursday, we need everyone to bring their instrument to Milton Frank. We have a rental truck, but it doesn't allow for all of our equipment. If you have a truck that could help carry a larger instrument like a bass drum, tenor drum, or sousaphone, we could use it immediately after school on Thursday. We have to get 5 bass drums, 2 tenor drums, and 3 sousaphones/tubas to Milton Frank. Homecoming Parade - Thursday Location - Huntsville High School and surround areas. We will load during your band class. 3:40 - School ends. 5:30 pm - Meet at Milton Frank Stadium. Your uniform should be on! 5:45 - 6:30 pm Warm up 6:45 pm - Pregame (we will perform our halftime show for pregame) Halftime performance will be the presentation of homecoming court. 7:00 pm - Game Starts ~9:30 pm - Game ends. What to wear We are wearing your black marching pants (bibbers), black socks, black shoes, and BLACK HHS Band shirt that you were given at the beginning of the year. Wear athletic shorts under your bibbers. Color Guard uniform - your show uniform! Other information We will be performing our halftime show for pregame instead of our normal pregame show. We will be performing the homecoming halftime show at halftime. Bring your water bottle! For the safety of our students and equipment, only band students, teachers, and chaperones should be in the band seating area. You are responsible for making sure your instrument gets put in the correct spot to be loaded on the truck or getting your instrument to the game. Instructions will be given in class. September 29th - London Parade Acceptance / Visit from London Delegation HISTORIC INVITATION FOR TALENTED STUDENTS STRIKE UP THE BAND IN LONDON Bob Bone, Co-Founder and Chair, is to invite the Huntsville High School Marching Band to participate in London’s New Year’s Day Parade & Festival - at the turn of the year 2023/ 2024. He will be accompanied by Mr Steve Summers, Chair of the London Mayors’ Association, (former Lord Mayor of the City of Westminster), Mr DeanO’Blonsky, Senior American Consultant and Mr Bill Northen, Senior Director of International Participation. The high school marching band, and other musicians, will have a life-changing week in the historic city performing in the parade and immersing in a full educational programme visiting museums, historic sites, and places of architectural and artistic interest. The 2024 event will be one of the biggest and best in the event’s history, which spans five decades (80s -2020’s) and will be screened live across the World – including the USA on the PBS Network. The festival concerts carry much cache – and utilises some of the most historic concert venues in London. Mr Bone is co-founder of London’s New Year’s Day Parade and Festival and The London International Choral Festival. He has been at the helm of both events in every year of their existence. In recognition of his work for London and its Boroughs Mr Bone was made an Honorary Member of the London Mayors’ Association in 2005 a distinction that has been bestowed on only five people in the 117-year history of the Association. The parade sees more than 8,000 performers from all corners of the globe entertain a street audience of around 500,000 – and a global TV and streaming audience of tens of millions. September 30th - Game @ Albertville (reminder this game is not a Fall break game is required) October 7th - Game @ Florence THURSDAY, October 13th - Game vs. Sparkman (Senior Night) Saturday, October 15th - Competition in Muscle Shoals (Full Day Event) Information repeated from previous newsletters: New Uniform Update Our new uniforms were scheduled to come in the first of September. Unfortunately, they are 3-4 weeks behind schedule. We are working with the company to get them here as quickly as possible. It looks like we will not be in full uniform for our first competition and homecoming week. We are exploring options to make the best of this situation to make the students look as best we can! Marching Competitions 2022 Our marching competitions are on the following days: Saturday, September 17th in Hendersonville, TN Saturday, October 15th in Muscle Shoals, Al Saturday, October 22nd in Soddy Daisy, TN (Do not sign up for the ACT on this date unless you plan to get your own ride to the competition) These competitions are what we work all season towards. They are required. Please keep your calendar clear on these dates and plan for a full day event. We take charter buses to these events. We would love to have a great cheering section as well! Marching Uniforms All shoes and bibbers (marching pants) that were ordered have arrived and were distributed. Gloves will be distributed when the new uniform arrives.
