The Mattress Sale is coming up on Saturday, February 24th from 10-5 in the Freshman Academy Cafeteria. We need your help this week!! Share our Facebook event page to your social media accounts and invite friends. Right now, we have 4 people coming and 11 interested - we need to spread the word to the community on this event. Please share and invite anyone who you know might be in the market for a mattress! https://facebook.com/events/s/huntsville-band-mattress-fundr/1557008748373205/ Secondly - Charlie the mattress guy is coming to talk to students on Thursday. He will be asking students to input contacts to send out a text message about the sale. Please help us by having a good list! If you participated in our crazy sock fundraiser, you will be able to use those play maybe you can add more. Our goal is to spread the word and get people to walk into our "mattress store" on Saturday, Feb 24 Wind Ensemble Rehearsals After some discussion in class and a vote, a good portion of the students in wind ensemble would like to go support our basketball team this Tuesday and next Tuesday (assuming we win) at Jacksonville State in the state basketball tournament. The school is allowing students to go with a signed form and their own transportation to/from the event. The state championship semifinals takes place while we are Memphis, so they would not be able to attend that game. The championship is the Saturday we return in Birmingham. Obviously, the team needs to continue to win, but those games are highly likely given their success. For that reason, we have agreed to cancel rehearsal the next 2 Tuesdays with the understanding we will need to add a rehearsal because missing those 2 Tuesdays actually means about 6 hours of rehearsal lost between class time and after school. After addition discussion with them, we plan to rehearse on Monday, February 19th (President's Day - no school) from 9-12. In addition, I have reached out to First Baptist Church to see if it is possible for us to do a preview concert there before the trip on Monday, Feb 26th or Tuesday, February 27. I will update everyone if we move forward with this. Navy Band Concert Information - Tuesday We encourage anyone attending the concert to arrive by 6:30 since seating is general admission. At 6:45 pm anyone without a ticket will be allowed to be seated if there is any seating remaining. Tickets are sold out. The concert starts at 7:00 pm and should last 60-90 minutes. If you are a student that I have talked to and are performing with them, make sure you are seated on the front row closest to the bandroom side of the auditorium at 6:30 pm. You will need to have your instrument, the music, and be in your tux/dress. Upcoming 9th grade Meeting CHANGE Our upcoming 9th grade meeting HAS BEEN CHANGED DUE TO ANOTHER MEETING AT HCMS regarding scheduling.
