FROM [email protected] & [email protected]Spring Concert Information This Thursday, April 29th - HHS Auditorium 7:00 pm Call Time: 6:15 pm Seated at 6:30 (Symphonic Band on stage, Wind Ensemble in Bandroom) Student Dress: Concert Dresses and Tuxedos. We are not going to be using the ticketing system for this event or marking off seats. We request that your family spread out in the auditorium to the extent possible. Mask-wearing is required as it is at all activities on HCS property. End of year information for uniforms, school instruments, and finances: Uniform: Concert uniforms must be dry cleaned and returned with the dry cleaning receipt by May 12. If there is no receipt of cleaning, the student's Charms account will be charged a fee. School instruments: All school owned instruments must be serviced by Southeastern Music and returned to the school for inventory by May 14. A repair ticket must accompany the instrument in order for the student not to be charged for any additional repairs. If the instrument is not ready for pick up, a repair ticket must be turned in by May 14. Marching horns will not be distributed until inventory is complete. Finances: If you have an outstanding balance due in your band account, these need to be addressed ASAP by contacting Brenda Tapia or Darin Miller. Records of unpaid dues are kept with the school as well as the band boosters and can follow a student through other school activities. It can also impact your ability to participate in the graduation ceremony or other graduation activities when you are a senior. Drum Majors Congratulations to our 2021-22 Drum Majors, Zacc Lindon and Jillian Boles. Leadership Sessions - Come learn about leadership and what it takes to be a leader in the HHS Band! Auditions and clinics for our leadership team will take place May 10-13 (Monday - Thursday) from 4:00 - 5:00 pm. This is open to anyone who wants to be section leader, librarian, truck crew, band captain, percussion captain, or color guard captain. In addition to these sessions, student will complete an application and do an interview with a director. District Honor Band 2021 District Honor Band is coming up May 7-8 at Sparkman High School. This was rescheduled because of COVID from an original February date. Rehearsals will take place Friday evening, Saturday morning, and Saturday afternoon. There will be a concert Saturday evening in the new Sparkman HS Auditorium. All students in band during the 2021-22 school year must complete an audition. Auditions consist of playing all 12 major scales, chromatic scale, the prepare exercise, and sight reading! Auditions will take place in class May 3-7. 8th grade (upcoming 9th grade students will audition after school.) Marching Percussion Camp and Auditions for Fall 2021 Percussionists in marching band will need to come to marching percussion auditions on April 22, May 6, and May 13 from 6:00-8:00 pm in the band room. You will be working with our percussion staff (Mr. Ailor, Mr. Lomax, and their helpers) and trying to place you on percussion instruments for the marching season. Band Banquet - Friday, May 14th The band banquet is set for the evening of Friday, May 14th at the Huntsville Botanical Gardens. It will be an outdoor event. Students and families are invited. We will have BBQ catered by Brent Bourland, a band parent and a part of a BBQ team that competes on the Netflix series "Bama-Q!" More information to come!
