SCHEDULE FOR THE WEEK!

Schedule for the week October 19 – October 23
Monday – Symphonic Band Brass  4:00 – 5:30 pm.  Color Guard 4:00 – 5:30.
Tuesday – Wind Ensemble 4:00 – 5:30 pm
Wednesday – Off
Thursday – MARCHING BAND!  4:00 – 5:30 pm.  Rehearsal with homecoming court and prepare halftime. LOAD TRUCK AFTER REHEARSAL
Friday – Game vs. Sparkman (homecoming) at Alabama A&M.

Game Day Information!
5:30 pm  Trucks Arrive at A&M
5:45 pm  Instruments out / temperature checks/ check in forms
6:00 pm  Enter stadium and get set up on the home side.
7:00 pm  Game Begins
***We will be performing both homecoming halftime and our halftime show (Sparkman band will not be attending)***
~9:30 pm  Load Truck and dismiss.
 At A&M, we will meet in our regular location which is the Southeast corner of the stadium.  As always – look for the band truck.   We will be sitting and performing to the home side of the stadium, but our meeting point is on the visitor side. 
If you are taking the ACT on Saturday, you can check out with a director after halftime.  Please let us know if you plan to leave the game early.

Uniform
Polo shirt tucked into Blue Jeans.  Jeans must be blue and should not have holes.   You may bring jackets/rain/cold weather gear to wear if needed.  School colors preferred.

Councill Park Performance – NEW!!!
The wind ensemble was invited by the City of Huntsville to perform at the opening of the new Councill Park.  This is the site of the former William Hooper Councill High School, the first public school in Huntsville for African American students.   The mayor, city council, and other dignitaries are planning to attend.   We are honored to play at this event.  You can get more information from this older article:  https://www.huntsvilleal.gov/construction-set-to-begin-on-councill-high-school-park/

Who:  Wind Ensemble students

When:  Monday, October 26th.  Leave at 12:00 pm and Return by 2:00 pm  (during wind ensemble class on the first day all traditional students return to school)

Location:  Councill Park is located next to the Public Library on St. Clair Ave.  This is also across from First Baptist Church.  Approximately 5 minutes from HHS.

Transportation:   Student vehicles.  Because of the close proximity to the school and smaller group of students, we are planning to drive over to the park at noon on the 26th.  If you do not drive, please arrange a carpool with another student or an adult.    Please contact Mr. Tankesley if transportation is an issue.

Parking:  Park in the public library parking lot. 

Uniform: Polo Shirts tucked into jeans (blue jeans, no holes).  Bring a jacket if needed (HHS Band or HHS jacket preferred).  You must wear a mask when not playing your instrument!

What to bring:  Instrument and Stand tunes.  (concert only students get stand tunes from librarians!)
**If rain is imminent, the city will make the call whether or not to postpone the event**
 
Upcoming Schedule
Next week's (October 26-30) after school schedule will have symphonic band (everyone) on Monday, Full MARCHING BAND on Tuesday , and the Football game against Decatur on Thursday!
 
Fall Concert - Thursday, November 5th    7:00 pm  Auditorium

Winter Concert – Tuesday, December 15th. 7:00 pm  Auditorium
 
Reminders 

The band practice schedule has been adjusted in the following ways:
**No percussion on Mondays.  We will continue rehearsing during class time. Color Guard will rehearse October 19 and 26th from 4:00 – 5:30 pm. 
**Wind Ensemble will rehearse Tuesdays after school from 4:00 – 5:30 pm (except Tuesday, October 27th).  We may add Thursdays after football games are over.
**Symphonic Band will rehearse Mondays after school from 4:00 – 5:30 pm.    The rehearsal schedule is as follows:
October 12- Woodwinds and percussion
October 19- Brass
October 26- Everyone
Nov. 2- Everyone
Nov. 9- No rehearsal
Nov. 16- Woodwinds and percussion
Nov. 23- Brass
Nov. 30- Everyone
Dec. 7- Everyone
Dec. 14- Everyone
 The full marching band will rehearse Thursday, October 22nd and Tuesday, October 27th in preparation for the games that week.  We will continue to work on marching band during class through the end of football season as well.

CONCERT UNIFORMS!
Students have been/ will be fitted for a concert uniform.  Please make sure that these are altered (if needed) prior to the November 5 concert!!  If, by some chance, your student did not return their uniform at the end of last year, please be sure to send an email to the uniform committee at [email protected] to let them know.  We are working to update our inventory and need to be able to track down some missing pieces.  

Several Symphonic Band students still do not have their Habits book.  Everyone MUST have this by the time we return on the 26th.  

MATTRESS FUNDRAISER

This is the year of adjustment - and we are now postponing our great Mattress Fundraiser.  The new date is February 27, 2021 - and we will be working to update the FaceBook events pages to inform everyone.
